Carving Pumpkins

Last night after supper we did a family activity!! We carved some pumpkins. The girls drew the faces on the pumpkins and daddy cut them out. First we had to get the guts out as they kept reiterating over and over. The comments they kept making of what the inside of the pumpkin felt like I will leave to your imagination. Needless to say a good time was had by all. We definitely need to do that kind of stuff together more often. I love my family.

Women's Retreat

On October 24th and 25th I was able to attend the Ladies retreat that Bethel does annually. They hold this amazing event at Camp Summit which is only about 30 minutes from Galesburg. It is a beautiful place in the country. It was a great weekend. I was able to hang out with people that I don't normally see on a regular basis. I love to hang out with my girlfriends. We had amazing food Mariana Schrader and Joy Bledsoe were our in house chefs. I will tell you one thing, if you go away hungry it is your own fault!! The speaker was really good. The topic for the weekend was Come Closer. I so need to do that and spend more time alone with Jesus. I had a great table of ladies to sit with and play phase 10 with for 2 and a half hours!! It was just a lot of fun. I had a great bunk mate who did not snore!!!! My friend Carmen and I can find about anything to laugh at especially when it is 2 or 3 in the morning. Next year I hope to see all of you at the retreat you won't want to miss it. These are the wonderful ladies that were at my table.

Back in time

Saturday night we were invited to a 50Th surprise birthday for a friend of ours. They had a theme and you could dress up if you wanted to. The theme was Hippie/Disco. I wasn't going to dress up but the girl's wanted to. So I then called another friend of mine who has tons of vintage clothing. We found stuff to wear and went home. When we got home Ari decided she didn't want to dress up she has a little of her daddy in her ha ha. So Molly and I dressed up it was a lot of fun. The birthday was very surprised.
Rubbermaid Container

If you need Christmas ideas here you go and they don't cost very much. I had brought this tote up to move some clothes around and there was only a few things left in it. Ari thought it was her own personal toy. She really had a lot of fun climbing in and out of it. Climbing in and putting the lid on it. Daddy came home and she had show him so she climbed in and he carried her around it was quite comical. I would have be claustrophobic!!! Of course I had to takesome pictures. Just to clarify she climbed in on her own accord!!
Cheerleading Cosutme
Her own sense of style!!

A couple of weeks ago was Galesburg's homecoming we have gone to the parade for the last several years. I picked the girls up at the bus stop because the parade was going to start at 4:00 and they get home at 3:45. So we needed to hurry. I see Ari coming down the sidewalk with her pants rolled up to her knees her black tall boots on. I asked her why her pants were rolled up and she said she got hot during the day. So I had to take a picture.
Gymnastics

Can you tell I finally downloaded some pictures. Ari has been taking gymnastics for almost three years and I don't think I have taken hardly any pictures, so last time she had gymnastics I took my camera and snapped a few pictures. she really has a lot of fun and has a knack for it. She is with the same group of girl's she was with last year. They are a little bit older than her but, that doesn't stop them from getting along and having fun. Enjoy!

GALENA

This past weekend I had the privilege to go to Galena with some friends. two years ago was the first time I went. My friend Nancy and her daughter Kate rented this house out in the country but not very far from Galena. It is a very pretty setting. The house has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room and dining room. The hot tub is so much fin because it is outside!! We broke the meals up between the 8 of us and had so much food!!! We went to Grant Park and looked at all the vendors. It is like scenic drive. We also went through the shops in Galena. One of my favorite shops is called Poopsie's. It is a unique place with lots of neat and different things. Tricia and I left for Galena Friday afternoon and came home Monday. It is fun to get to know new people. The group I went with is all in the education field except Kate and I. I'm already looking forward to next year. I will post some pictures tomorrow. If you want to see the house you can go to http://www.countryviewhome.com/ Until next time bye-bye.

Conversations
Last Friday night we had two of my friends' girls spend the night. My oldest and her second oldest are the same age and the 3rd oldest and Ari have fun playing together. Did I mention my friend has six children!!! The whole reason I'm writing this post is because I love to listen to the girl's interact. We went to Hy-Vee to get stuff for S'mores yummy! As we are walking around the store and out to the car they are talking about different musicians and actors/actresses. The one I heard them talking about was Vanessa Hodges ( I think) from High School Musical ( I admit the first one was cute) My friends daughter pipes up and says: I heard Vanessa Hodges is a "slug" She asked Molly do you know what a slug is? Molly says yes it is a slimy fat thing. Her friends proceeds to say no the other slug? I will tell you about the other one when we get back to your house. I thought I was going to split a gut. But, I kept my laughter in control and had to share with my husband when he got home. Then later that evening they were watching Pirates of the Caribbean and the actors were about to kiss and of course I hear from the other room gross. Again my friends daughter in her infinite wisdom said do you know when they are going to kiss? The other girls said when she said well when they look at each other and their eyes get all dreamy. Charlie and i were cracking up in the other room. Just had to share. Have a great week.

Craziness!!

It is October, which I love. I have a friend who dreads fall because that means winter is right on its tail. I was at her house the other night and I said as I walked out the door oh smell that air. It smelled like fire and leaves and just plain fall YEAH! I love to wear jeans and sweatshirts. It has been so crazy lately. Mom2Mom is going well we have a lot of moms which means a lot of kids. We need childcare help!!! My son went to homecoming with his girlfriend again this year but, it was a bigger deal because he was able to drive. So they went out to eat and then to the dance. They looked really cute. Yesterday I went to Dicks0n Mounds with Molly that was a lot of fun. I enjoyed watching her interact with her friends. I got a charge of listening to the kids' talk about who liked whom and so and so dated last year. You would have thought I was with a bunch of high school kids. One of the kids said to me: Molly's mom so and so likes Molly. (This little boy was sitting behind me on the bus cute kid.) I peeked over the seat and he was hiding under his coat and I said to him you are too young to like girls!! I have got to finish some Halloween costumes Molly asked to be someone who wears a poodle skirt and Ari is going to be a cheerleader after she changed her mind twice!!! For school they don't wear the normal Halloween attire. Each grade has a theme last year Molly's class did great Americans and she wanted to be Sacajawea (sp). This year they are doing presidents, first ladies or candidates she wants to be Sarah Palin go Molly. Ari's class is doing nursery rhymes or fairy tails. I'm sure I will have plenty of pictures. But for now I think it will be pictures of my son.
